So I can tick another goal off my list. I climbed my mountain, in fact I ran up the mountain, and I did it with two very special friends. Last weekend Neil, Pudding and I ran an awesome trail run up a barely used single track to the top of Table Mountain. A brief journey filled with insights and experiences of life. The run was breathtakingly beautiful (and steep). All it takes is for us to step into nature and the natural flow of things to be at peace. As difficult and as tiring on the legs as the run was the scenary and beauty of the mountain surpassed all discomfort. We were overwelmed, breathless and blessed. The mountain has been significant in my life for the past few months. It has been a symbol of power, beauty and raw emotion. For days after the run Pudding and I would look at each other and say, that was phenominal. A shift of perspective. More than the completion of another goal, this was a short story, a nugget of nuclear energy stored within us, energy waitig to be tapped into just by hitting the replay button. That is the beauty of my life and my memories, I just think back to the event and I can relive it. Adventures that I have undertaken, conversations I have had, intimate moments shared, funny events, mates. Days when I miss my brother who lives in the UK are made easier when I recall our times together, all night braais, camping in the rain, riding horses for days on end, lifesaving on the beach. Those memories are so strong that I relive the emotion I experienced whilst they played out. So that is one of the things I have taken out of my journey up the mountain, we have the ability to re experience emotions at will and we have the responsibilty to choose carefully and to remain positive. So time to go out and make new memories
