Sometimes we just need to breath out, kick back and take a break from the daily routine of life. That is exactly what Tania and I are going to do next weekend. Three months into the year and time for our first break away together. We going to travel for a long weekend, climb in the car and just head out. Visit old friends, see new places, spend time together and exhale.
This year has gone extremely quickly and has not been without its challenges both emotional and financial. The first quarter is behind us, and both Tania and I need to step outside of the day to day routine and look at what we have achieved so far in 2015. Where have we fallen short of our goals, where have we gone off track? But more importantly we will focus on what we have done right, how we can keep the momentum gained, continue the good fight and move forward toward our destination. We will reflect on the little things in life that knit us together and the hopes and dreams we have for each other and our kids. Our long weekend will be a time for relaxation and rejuvenation. A time to reconnect with ourselves and make sure that we are living lives of integrity.
I will combine my trip with some work, and I choose to do this willingly as my work is part of who I am and I enjoy and embrace my chosen career. The work that I have chosen to do on this trip is specifically the aspects of my job which I enjoy most. That way I get to experience the best of work and play and understand that these two aspects of my live can co-exists in harmony. I get to live out the life of my dreams in a real and practical way.
Dreams are no good when they are confined to the hours of sleep or mindless day-dreaming. Tania and I choose to dream consciously and then go out and do our best to live those dreams. We choose to dream big, to visualize a life that others only get to envy when looking through a magazine or reading stories of other people. Tania and I choose to take risks, to step out the comfort zones and expose ourselves to the world out there. We do not always win, we don’t always get exactly what we want, and at times we are beset with frustrations, however that which we do achieve is far greater now than if we had never dared to risk anything at all. Each setback becomes a lesson, we sharpen the saw, we discuss new strategies, dream bigger, focus harder, we get motivated and inspired. We live for today, plan for tomorrow and value our past experiences for the love, joy and lessons imparted.
It is always good to hit the pause button from time to time, catch your breath, take a drink of water from the fountain, scan the horizon and then set off again renewed, rejuvenated and refreshed.
We have a week to go before we head off and the week will be filled with planning, strategizing, visualizing and completing unfinished business. Then we break, reflect, regroup and when we return in April we will be filled with passion, purpose and direction.
